Weaving

This week, we have been learning the story Little Red Riding Hood as part of our Traditional Tales topic. Today we looked at Red’s wicker basket and the weaved pattern that had been used to make the basket. Mrs Farmer showed us how to weave and then we had a go ourselves!

Summer Hunt!

This week, we are learning about the season summer! Yesterday, we learnt about what we might notice outside during the summer months and compared this to what we have learnt through the school year regarding the seasons. Then we made the most of this beautiful sunshine and went outside for a signs of summer hunt!

Arts Week – Day 1

It’s Arts Week and we’re learning about Italy! Yesterday, we learnt lots about Italy as a country and then focused in on the beautiful city of Venice. The children were intrigued by the “City of Canals” and showed a particular interest in the Bridge of Sighs.

The art skill we were focusing on was painting using watercolours. The children were asked to paint a picture of Venice using the watercolour paint. Here’s what they produced…

The attention to detail is wonderful! Well done team!

Signs of Spring Hunt

Earlier this week, the reception children went outside for a “signs of spring” hunt. They had a wonderful time searching the school grounds for the items on their list and there was some lovely vocabulary development too!

Football Skills

Today was our last PE lesson on “Ball Games” for this academic year. Today’s focus was football skills and goal scoring. The children worked very hard in this lesson and we were delighted with the progress they made! Better still, every single one of them scored a goal for Team Hedgehogs!
