This week, Hedgehog Class are learning the story “Jack and the Beanstalk”. They have planted their own “beanstalks” and learnt what plants need to grow. They can’t wait to see what happens over the next few weeks!

Our friends from the church came in this morning to do another whole school Open the Book. This morning, they performed the story of “The Unforgiving Servant” with some help from a few children in Owl Class. This helped us reflect on our school value of the month “Forgiveness”.
Today we went to visit our local church to find out what makes a church special to Christians. Once we got inside, we explored the building and spotted objects that we have already learnt about in relation to Christianity. Mrs Farmer then showed us around the church and taught us about some of its features and how some of the objects within it are used.
While we were there, we all sat silently and shut our eyes to take in the atmosphere of the church. We then thought about how this made us feel. Some of the words we came up with were peaceful, calm and relaxing.
For the next couple of weeks, Hedgehog Class are going to be looking for the signs of spring. Let’s hope the weather realises it’s spring soon too! Here they are doing some beautiful observational drawings of things we found outside.
We have been learning the story “Let’s all creep through crocodile creek” since coming back to school in January. Today, we learnt how to make a story map by creating a whole class shared one. After that, the children took it in turns to retell the whole story using their map to help them. We all think they did a super job of their first story maps and can’t wait to see them having a go at making their own later in the week!
As part of our “Winter” topic, the children spent some time looking at different photos of winter, before creating their own winter scene using paint and tin foil.
On Monday, Hedgehog Class had a great time outside in the snow. We were exploring different ways of melting snow and ice. We learnt that for water to freeze, the temperature must be below 0°c. We used our hands, warm water, salt, paint, washing up liquid and soap to find out what melted the ice and snow the fastest.
Happy New Year to you all! We’re excited to be welcoming you all back after the Christmas break. Please click on the links below for information about Hedgehog Class this term and to find out what the children will be learning. There is further information on the Class Information page.
As always, if you have any questions, please let one of us know.

This morning the children have been busy making their Christingles for our church service this afternoon. Rev. Lucinda came in to talk to the children about the meaning of the Christingle and then we split into different classes to make our own. The older children did a fantastic job of helping the younger children. Well done team!
