Dragonfly and Owl’s trip to Cadbury’s world

We had a fantastic day at Cadbury World in Bourneville yesterday! We started off our day with a tour around the chocolate factory, where we discovered how cocoa beans are transformed into the tasty treats we all love! We watched chocolatiers in action, explored interactive exhibits, and even got to taste melted chocolate with a choice of toppings—yum! The children were fascinated by the machinery and the history of the Cadbury brand, especially how it all started with a small shop and a big dream!

After lunch, we took part in a brilliant workshop all about the Ancient Maya and their connection to cocoa. Through storytelling, artefacts, and hands-on activities, we learned how the Maya people were among the first to grow cocoa and use it in rituals and daily life. The children explored how cocoa was considered sacred, even used as currency, and how it played a role in Maya culture long before it became a sweet treat.

The workshop helped us link our history topic with real-world experiences, and the children asked thoughtful questions about Maya beliefs, farming, and trade. It was a fantastic way to bring our classroom learning to life!

The children upheld our school values during the trip and were a pleasure to take out for the day. Thank you to both parent volunteers and staff for all your help!
