As part of our “Winter” topic, the children spent some time looking at different photos of winter, before creating their own winter scene using paint and tin foil.

On Monday, Hedgehog Class had a great time outside in the snow. We were exploring different ways of melting snow and ice. We learnt that for water to freeze, the temperature must be below 0°c. We used our hands, warm water, salt, paint, washing up liquid and soap to find out what melted the ice and snow the fastest.
Year 1: /long oo/ – ou, /short oo/ – oul
Year 2: /or/ – our, ore
In our Art lessons we have been learning about self-portraits. We have practised different sketching and painting skills and to finish off our unit last term we created self-portraits in clay. We had to think carefully about the techniques we used to create detail in our faces!
Happy New Year to you all! We’re excited to be welcoming you all back after the Christmas break. Please click on the links below for information about Hedgehog Class this term and to find out what the children will be learning. There is further information on the Class Information page.
As always, if you have any questions, please let one of us know.

This morning the children have been busy making their Christingles for our church service this afternoon. Rev. Lucinda came in to talk to the children about the meaning of the Christingle and then we split into different classes to make our own. The older children did a fantastic job of helping the younger children. Well done team!

Then on Wednesday we were lucky enough to visit Theatre Severn to see Jack and the Beanstalk! We had a fabulous time – a huge thank you to the Friends of Ruyton for raising the money for tickets to enable all our children to enjoy such a wonderful, festive experience!
