Hello Yellow for Young Minds

Our school will be taking part in Hello Yellow on Friday 10th October (World
Mental Health Day) to raise awareness and funds for YoungMinds, the UK’s
leading charity for young people’s mental health.
No young person should feel alone with their mental health and that’s why
Hello Yellow matters. We’re taking this opportunity as a school community to
come together and show our students that we’re with them and they’re never
alone with their mental health.
We’ll be taking part by coming to school wearing yellow.
You can also donate to support our school’s fundraising by through the below website link or through scanning the QR code.

Most importantly, we want to share the resources which YoungMinds offer to support parents and carers if you ever need help and advice to support your children. This includes:
• online resources (www.youngminds.org.uk/parent/)
• a phone line, open 9.30am-4pm (0808 802 5544)
• an online chat for parents and carers to speak to trained
professionals if you’re concerned about your children’s mental
health (www.youngminds.org.uk/parents-helpline/)
Chester Zoo
Rabbit class had a fantastic day at Chester Zoo this week. We enjoyed seeing all the different animals and finding out about their habitats. The staff at Chester Zoo were very impressed with our knowledge on how to classify animals – well done Rabbits!

The High Sheriff of Shropshire Visits Ruyton
This week we were very proud to welcome Mrs Jane Trowbridge, the High Sheriff of Shropshire to our school. Along with Rev. Lucinda, she led a Worship explaining all about her role and her Youth Awareness Project that we will be taking part in this year (more details to follow). She also met our Courageous Advocacy School Council and has sent us a thank you letter, commenting on how charming our school is how engaging all our children are!

Secondary School Applications
Children who are in Year 6 at a primary or junior school from September 2025 will transfer to secondary school in September 2026.
Shropshire residents should make their applications for English state schools using the Shropshire online portal. Local authorities co-ordinate applications. Use our guidance notes to help you make your application. If you have any queries or encounter any difficulties completing your application, please contact the School Admissions Team by email: school-admissions@shropshire.gov.uk
Please note that the online facility is open from 1 September 2025. You must apply by 31 October 2025. If there’s a reason why your application is late, eg due to a house move, please email school-admissions@shropshire.gov.uk to advise that there may be exceptional reasons to be considered.
Autumn Term in Rabbit Class
Welcome back Rabbits! I hope you have all had a fantastic time during the summer holidays. I have had a very busy and exciting few weeks because I got married, so I’m now Mrs Powell (I think it might take a while for us all to get used to it!). We had a lovely day! I’m looking forward to hearing what you’ve been getting up to as well.
We have got lots of exciting things to look forward to this term. Click on the link below to find out more about what we will be learning.
Rabbits Topic Overview Autumn 2025
PE days are Tuesdays (Y2 only) and Fridays. Forest school will be on a Tuesday afternoon, so Year 1s will need to come to school in their kit. Due to larger numbers in Hedgehogs class this year, there may be some changes to forest school but you will be informed of this with a letter from Mrs Farmer & Mrs Gregory.
