Rabbits had a wonderful trip to Park Hall Farm Victorian School on Monday. They were dressed up in traditional Victorian clothing and then sat silently while the teacher took them through their times tables, knowledge of Victorian history and some writing (with right hands only!) on a slate with a slate pencil. The teacher was strict but very kind and the children really enjoyed acting the part of Victorian schoolchildren. There was time to look around the museum and some of the objects on display.

Children in Need in pictures : £243.38 !!!
We baked…. we dressed up… we made masks…. and we had GREAT FUN raising lots of money for a brilliant cause: Children in Need!
Fun & Games Cluncil planned the events, ran the bake sale and mask competition. The total amount of money flabbergasted us all! Well done to all the children who got involved – a brilliant effort all round.

Rory’s skiing success!
We have a skiing star to add to the array of talents at Ruyton! A huge well done to Rory and his elder brother, Max, who took part in a skiing competition on Friday night and represented our school.
It looks very daring and impressive! Well done Eddon boys, we are super proud of you both.

Children in Need 15th November – non-uniform day
Just a reminder that tomorrow is a non-uniform day in aid of Children in Need – could children please bring in £1 donation. We will also be holding a bake sale at break and lunchtime, so we would be very grateful for donations of cakes and bakes – these will be 50p each. Thanks.
Good luck sports teams!
Good luck to our sports teams who are heading out tomorrow (Wednesday). Firstly, lots of KS2 children are heading to the Corbet for Cross-Country where they will be competing in Event 2 of 4 (4pm start with Deejay – Devon’s mum).
The football team are also in Shrewsbury at a tournament – good luck to the U11 squad!
“Thanks!” from Oswestry Food Bank.
Two pupils took food donations to our local food bank following our Harvest Festival Service at St. John The Baptist Church this month. This kind letter was sent to thank the school and church for our efforts.

Science
Today the year 1’s were learning the parts of the body. We drew around each other and labelled the template with different body parts. After we had done that we talked about the 5 senses.

Visitors to School – views of two visitors to Ruyton school – Outstanding school
Mr and Mrs Gittins joined us in school for a visit on Thursday last week. It gave us a lovely opportunity to thank them for the wonderful forest school and school fields they support us with as well as showing them around our school during a normal school day. It was lovely to receive a letter of thanks from them, following their visit, in which they said;
‘…we were more than impressed by what we saw as we walked around, we had a wonderful feeling of being in a busy but happy place.’
‘We thought the children were delightful, they were polite, well-mannered and yet not afraid to speak up with their opinions. There also appeared to be a very close relationship between pupils and their teachers, which was a delight to see and in all we felt that the school is for sure a very special institution and one that we should all cherish and be very proud of.’
‘Please thank the members of staff who spent time talking to us and showing us a little of the wonderful facilities the school has and just what the children are capable of, but no matter what facilities a school may have there is nothing more important to a good school than dedicated staff and this is something Ruyton school has in abundance.’
‘I am convinced that for those parents who are looking for an outstanding school for their children, then Ruyton must become their obvious choice..’
Well done to pupils and staff for showing our visitors what a fantastic school we have here in Ruyton and a big thank you to Mr and Mrs Gittins for joining us last week and for all they do for our pupils!
Forest school
Hedgehog Class had a fantastic time up at forest school today. We were learning about water and water flow. The children were given various pipes and cartons and told to go out into the woods to experiment with water flow. They will then use what they learnt this week to creat a huge “Drumbles river” as a class next week.

Cross-country
Ruyton Runners were out on Wednesday – well done to all the children for completing their races and earning house points for their teams.
Conbratulations to: Daniel, Maurice, Rhys, Charlie, Jamie, Thomas, Anouk, Lily, Elizabeth, Amy, Laila, Matthew, Toby, Sam, Torin, Andreas, Arthur and Alfie.
