Jubilee Celebrations—whole school homework task

On Saturday 4th June, the village will be holding a Jubilee Picnic Party (12-3pm) on the school field to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.  There will be refreshments, fun and games, competitions, vintage vehicles, music, a raffle and much more.  As part of this, we would like our school to contribute towards the festivities by making a Jubilee themed model/statue to be displayed in the school grounds.  Models must be weatherproof as they will be left outside.  Suggestions from the children for subjects have included: royal animals, significant figures from the last 70 years such as Winston Churchill or even your own family redesigned as royalty. Collaborations between families and friends are welcomed.  Please bring your creations to school by Thursday 26th May.  We cannot wait to see what you come up with.

If you have any queries, please contact Mrs Hollis or Miss Horton.

English

We have been so impressed with your amazing poetry writing in English so this week, we would like you to write your own simile poem (just like our whale poem) about an animal of your choice.  Here is an example about my cat, Jet to give you some ideas:

My cat is black like the night sky in Winter

His paws are as white as new snow

His purr is as loud as a train

He hunts like a stealthy panther

He can be as lazy as a sloth

And as loving as a hug.

Please email, bring in or upload your poem onto TEAMS by Wednesday 11th May.

School Value—Respect

Throughout the month of March, our school value has been respect.  We have explored this theme through our worships, our Reading the Game sessions and this week’s homework is linked to it.  We would like you to complete any activity connected to this value.  You can choose anything that you like but here are some ideas to get you started.  You could:

*Write about someone that you respect and why.

*Draw a picture that illustrates what the word respect means to you.

*Write a piece of text/poem that explains why respect is an important value.

These are just a few ideas but please feel free to be as creative as you want around this theme.

Please bring in/email/upload (onto TEAMS) your homework by Wednesday 6th April.
