Weekly celebrations 16.06.23

Posted on June 16, 2023 by Jen Whittingham

The school is a sea of orange and green today and we just love it! Thank you to everyone for supporting our ‘Have Fun for Harry’ day for the Harry Johnson Trust; the cakes not only look magnificent, but taste delicious! A HUGE thank you to everyone who has donated in some way.

Weekly Celebrations :

Athletics Stars

A team of KS2 athletes attended a new event this week at the Corbet School. We had some brilliant successes (and medals!) along the way…

  • Charley came 2nd in her 400m sprint
  • Percy won the tennis ball throw
  • Mia came 3rd in the Y5/6/ Girls 50m sprint
  • Ella won the Y5/6 girls throwing
  • Elliot came 2nd in the Y5/6/ Boys 50m sprint
  • Jamie won the Y5/6/ Boys 400m
  • Andy won the Y5/6/ Boys throw
  • Y5/6/ Boys 3rd in the team relay
  • Y5/6 Boys WON their competition overall!

Go Team Ruyton!

Acorn Awards (earning House Points with two pupils chosen per class; awarded by teachers for class-based work / learning attitudes):

George –  For writing recognition: this week, we had a visitor in school who spent time looking at the Year 6 writing. George’s work was commended for being such a high standard – one of the best our visitor had EVER seen! Well done George, what a star you are.

Mia– Mr Fields, the Year 6 teacher from Bomere Heath, spent time sharing books with Miss Whit this week. Just from her books, Mr Fields said he could tell how hard Mia works and the effort she gives each day. Well done Mia!

Logan– for super reading!

Imogen – for a super attitude – positive, friendly and fun!

Aoife – for always having a positive attitude

Caitlyn – a great attitude to work this week

Tilly – for working brilliantly on times tables

Bumblebees Star of the Week

Congratulations to Phoenix for earning the Bumblebees Star of the Week for doing everything that is expected of her and turning the big three!

Raffle ticket winners (awarded by staff for lining-up or behaviour around school)

Plus an extra winner in Hedgehog Class as they had the most tickets this week 👏

More swimming award for a 3 year old!

Our Bumblebee super swimmer, James, has been doing brilliant things again! This time he has earned his Level 2 Award – we just can’t believe he is only 3! James… you are an inspiration.

Rabbits Swimming Star

Nancy has been flying in the pool too! We love hearing Nancy share her enjoyment of swimming – we are so proud of her for keeping up her achievements and putting in all the practise hours. Well done Nancy!

Happy Birthday to Freddie, Laurie and Magnus this weekend!

Coming up next week:

  • Arts Week for every class with a theme of : All Things British
  • Tuesday – Year 5 Open Morning at the Corbet School
  • Thursday – St John the Baptist Day and Picnic Lunch
  • Friday – swimming for Hedgehogs & Owls
