Today we were very privileged to receive a visit from Helen Morgan, the MP for North Shropshire, who came to see our school and talk to the children about her role.
Owl and Dragonfly Class were very excited for the chance to listen to Helen explain her role and experience as an MP. They then had the chance to ask their questions! Questions included: What inspired you to become an MP? How do you feel when you speak to the Prime Minister? What issues matter most to you?
The tables then turned as the children were given the chance to tell Helen about the issues that matter most. These included: road improvements at Shotatton crossroads, homelessness, the cost of food, using greener transport, and Sid’s suggestion of fixing the pot holes! Helen told our children how impressed she was with their mature understanding of matters that affect adult lives in Shropshire and the children certainly felt listened to.
A huge thank you to Helen Morgan MP for spending the afternoon with us at St John’s. We will continue learning about her work and local issues as part of the upcoming UK Parliament Week 2026.
