VE Day 80 Celebrations
This week we had a super time commemorating and celebrating VE Day 80 and on the day itself we came to school dressed in red, white and blue or in 1940’s style clothing. Mrs Bradshaw looked particularly fabulous in her suit! At 9am we joined in with the National Proclamation marking the anniversary. This was read for us by John Gittins with Eva playing the part of the village crier with an excellent “oyez, oyez, oyez!” Later in the day we came back out onto the field to listen to the pealing of the church bells. In our classes we carried out activities to help us understand the significance of the day in history and to our lives today.
At lunchtime we enjoyed a fish and chip picnic and we even found time to fit our annual fun run in to the day! We really enjoyed the ice pops and biscuits from the Friends after all the running and were very pleased with our medals to recognise our efforts. Thank you Friends!

Easter Gardens
Today we continued to our exploration of the Easter story to answer the big question ‘Why do Christians put a cross in an Easter garden?’ We created our own Easter gardens, talking about the representation of each part and how this helps Christians to remember what happened at the very first Easter.
We were very proud of our gardens when we had finished.

The Continents and Oceans
We have been learning the names of the continents and oceans in Hedgehogs. To learn these, we have been using two songs that we really enjoy singing! Please find below links to these songs so we can share our learning with you at home!
Hedgehogs Homework – 4.4.25
This week in Hedgehogs we have been learning about Easter around the world, and about the tradition of decorating eggs.
For homework this week, I would like you to decorate a hard-boiled egg and bring it in next Friday for us to show the rest of the school our cracking creations!
How egg-citing can you make your design?
There will be prizes for the most eggs-traordinary!
Comic Relief in Hedgehogs
We’ve had a very busy and exciting day in Hedgehogs today. We have found out about why we are raising money for Comic Relief. We learned about the history of the red nose and how it changes before designing and making our own with playdough. We also made tasty red nose biscuits and played with red oobleck. We found it fascinating to watch the way it changed when we were using it.
