Owls has been a very busy place during our second week back! A highlight was the percussion workshop with Mr. Clowes (see earlier post) – flyers have been sent home for any children who are interested. . Here are some more updates!

Ginny & Ruby

Special mentions to Ginny and Ruby as two year six pupils who have been showing the ‘Ruyton Way’ in every part of their day – keep it up girls!

Toby

A Year 5 showing ‘the Ruyton Way’ goes to Toby; he has made constant contributions to class discussions and he has given his best effort to all his work including learning and performing a poem off by heart. Superstar year five, Toby!

English

This week we wrote up our final poems for presentation – they were fantastic! Seren certainly found her poetic flow in her Harry Potter inspired version of Ginny Ghost – check out our earlier post this week of her work. Our new topic has begun with some exciting diary entries as we imagined ourselves becoming the daredevil Danny McCaskill cycling the ridge! Kohen and Arthur certainly got in the zone with this writing – great effort boys.

Maths

We continued our work on place from last week but have been getting stuck into times tables… Revision on being speedy with our two and four multiplications and divisions are our current focus. The more practice that can be done at home with this, the better!

PE

We developed our understanding of invasion games through Netball on Friday. Aoife and Felicity both play club netball for Recycles in Oswestry so were delighted to share their knowledge and skills – thank you girls! Oliver shone with his fantastic sporting ability whilst George and Oscar showed unstoppable teamwork.

We are also very lucky to be enjoying our playing field every lunchtime at the moment… Well done to all the children participating in big daily football matches which includes the younger children too – there has been some brilliant teamwork!

RE

We delved a little deeper into Islamic ways of life by learning about the Five Pillars and showing our understanding through art. Millie produced a brilliant piece of work to show what each of the pillars represent and we considered how faith impacts the lives of other year five and six children in Shropshire and the UK.

Next week – don’t forget the change of PE days to Tuesday.

Finally, we send quick recovery vibes to Nancy – you’ve been very missed in class this week! Plus a huge happy birthday weekend to Beau 🥳
