For our arts week in Owl Class, Mr Arthur’s days have been spent making mosaic tiles and acrylic layered paints.
With our theme of Italy, the mosaics are linked to the Ancient Romans who believed in the Greek Gods and depicted them in their expensive buildings (rich houses, government buildings, bathhouses). The children researched online for a guide and then spent monday and tuesday tiling with glue and then grouting for the finish. They turned out great!
For the acrylic painting, the children understood that it dries quickly and can be used for detail to be added onto a background. We spoke about brush size, colours that mix well and used Italian landscapes as inspiration for our artwork.
