Visit to Café Eleven

Following the children’s interest of role playing in our ‘Bumblebees café’, we decided to visit a real life Café!
The children were very excited to go to Café Eleven in the village.
First we sat and watched Karen serve all of the people in the Café, we saw her preparing food, making coffee and taking money then putting it in the till.
We then got to read some magazines whilst we waited to place our order.
We were very excited to go up to the counter and have a look at all the food on display and then place our order. We all had Hot Chocolate and Oreo’s, they were delicious!
Karen then showed us some coffee beans which we got to hold and smell, she then showed us what it looked like after it was ground down into a coffee powder, we loved the feel and the smell of it.
After finishing our Hot Chocolate we got to have a look at everything that the Café sells. We learnt lots and had a great afternoon !

Fun in the snow

Bumblebees had great fun in the snow this morning !

Bumblebee Movie Afternoon

Whilst the rest of the school were at the theatre on Wednesday, Bumblebees had a fun afternoon planned.
We started off with a big game of hide and seek around the whole school to burn off some energy. The children were very excited to hide in the ‘big children’ classrooms and were amazed at how quiet and calm the school was without anyone there.

We then settled down to watch a movie on the beanbags, with cookies and milk.
We all had great fun and surprisingly, the children managed to stay awake until the end of the film. What a lovely afternoon Bumblebees!

A Wriggly Nativity

Bumblebees thoroughly enjoyed taking part in ‘A Wriggly Nativity’ and dressing up as Chickens, Donkeys and Cows.

They loved learning all of the songs and dances over the last few weeks and they performed amazingly on the day (and night)!

Well done our little Bumblebees, we are SO proud of you !

Exploring Ice

Following on from our work on the five senses, the children in Bumblebees completed a science experiment using ice.

They explored the ice with their hands using their sense of touch, used descriptive language that they had learnt earlier in the week to explain how the ice felt and then they each predicted what would happen when the ice was placed into a bowl of hot water.

The children had great fun and especially enjoyed watching the hot water being poured over the ice and watching it melt away.

After the ice had melted, we added containers, spoons and bowls and the children made their own ‘Christmas Tree Potion’.

Fantastic work Bumblebees!

Search and Find

This week in Bumblebees we have been learning about our senses. The children had a great time using sight and touch to help them to complete our ‘Search and Find’ activity.
The children had to choose a picture and then try to find the correct item in the Tuff Tray full of loose parts.
The children loved the activity and had great fun.

World Nursery Rhyme Week – B.I.N.G.O

In Bumblebees we are celebrating World Nursery Rhyme Week.

Thursday’s rhyme was B.I.N.G.O, so as well as learning the song and completing lots of doggy themed activities, we followed the children’s interest in dogs and watched a short episode of Crufts.

The children were amazed at how fast the dogs were and really enjoyed watching them complete the agility course.

We decided to set up our own agility course for the children, which they had great fun completing!
