Due to the snowy weather, today will be a remote‑learning day. The activities below are designed to be simple, flexible, and easy to complete at home.
English
1. Snow Day Journalling
Write a diary entry about your snow day. It can be real or imagined. Describe all the
things you can see, hear and feel. Write about an adventure you would like to have in
the snow!
Remember to use lots of detail and expanded noun phrases to describe your day.
2. Create a Snow Themed Comic Strip
Draw a comic strip about a snow day adventure. Use speech bubbles, thought bubbles
and narration to tell the story in words and pictures.
Challenge:
Try using inverted commas to write some dialogue between two characters.
3.Frosty Instructions
Write a set of clear instructions for: How to build the perfect snowman Include:
- A title
- Numbered steps
- Imperative verbs (e.g., roll, stack, decorate)
- A “Top Tip” at the end

- Snowflake Symmetry Hunt
- Look out of your window or search for pictures of snowflakes.
- Draw three different snowflakes, each with at least one line of symmetry.

- Log onto TTRockstars and have a go at practising your times tables!3. Snowstorm Tally ChartLook outside and create a Tally chart to show how many of each you spot below, year 4 have a go at using the data to create a bar graph.

1. Build a Snow Sculpture (Real or Imagined!)
If you can go outside safely, build something unusual in the snow — not just a snowman. Ideas:
- A snow dragon
- A snow castle
- A snow animal If you can’t go outside, draw your sculpture instead. Add labels and a short description.
2. Make a Winter Window Scene
Create a snowy picture to stick in your window. You could use:
- Paper snowflakes
- Cotton wool
- Blue/white crayons or paint
- Recycled materials Try to show depth by adding objects in the foreground and background.
3. Design a Snow Day Board Game
Create your own board game themed around winter adventures. Include:
- A start and finish
- At least 10 spaces
- Snow‑themed challenges (e.g., “Slip on ice – go back 2 spaces”)
- A hand‑drawn board
