Good Morning Rabbits,
Due to the snowy weather, today will be a remote‑learning day. We know that every family’s situation is different, so the activities are designed to be simple, flexible, and easy to complete at home.
Suggested activities for today:
1. Morning Warm‑Up
Phonics practice:
- Read some of your school reading book aloud to an adult.
- Write 5 words with the ‘ai’ sound and draw a picture for one of them.
2. Maths in the Snow
- Snow measuring: Can you use a ruler to measure how deep the snow is? Are some areas deeper than others?
- Snowball counting: Can you make 10 snowballs and practise number bonds to 10? If you have 6 snowballs, how many more will you need to make 10?
- Shape hunt: Can you find circles, triangles, and squares in winter objects (e.g., wheels, windows, signs)?
3. English – Snowy Story Time
“Imagine you are a tiny animal waking up to find the world covered in snow. What do you do?”
- You can draw the scene and write 2–4 sentences.
Remember to use your phonics to help you with your spellings.
4. Topic / Creative Task
Choose one:
- Make a snowflake: Cut paper shapes and talk about symmetry.
- Winter science: Put ice cubes in different places and predict which melts first.
- Art: Draw a winter landscape using only blue, white, and grey.
5. Physical Activity
- Go and enjoy the snow! ❄️
Please don’t worry about completing everything. The aim is to keep learning enjoyable and manageable while making the most of the snowy day.
Thank you for your support and flexibility. Stay warm and have fun.
Mrs Powell
