Well done everyone for their fantastic homework last week. Your recap on the active and passive has really shone through in your school writing this week! If anyone is continues to have ICT issues please let us know in advance so that we can support the completion of Homework in school.
This week we will recap the work on Fronted Adverbials something which you will all be familiar with from class.
There are different types of fronted adverbial that can be used to change the description of the action in a sentence. These include fronted adverbials of:
- Time – In the early morning, the storm clouds gathered.
- Frequency – Every evening, the storm clouds gathered.
- Place – Above the castle, the storm clouds gathered.
- Manner – As quick as a flash, the storm clouds gathered.
- Degree – Terrifyingly, the storm clouds gathered.
You will need to work through the following Bitesize Activities as a recap.
Once you have competed the activities I would like you to write your own description of a setting for a story, highlighting or underlining your adverbial phrases as you go along. So examples of sentences you could write include:
Below the swirling clouds, the mountain lair stared down menacingly over the valley below.
Please forward completed work to myself or Nikki in the office.
Can I also take this opportunity to thank all parents and carers for their support in completing the homework each week! If you have any suggestions as to how we can improve our Homework or have any queries please do get in touch!
Have a wonderful weekend,
