Owl Class home learning 29.6.20

Morning Owls!  I hope you are all well and enjoyed the weekend.  Here comes a new week of learning!  Year 6, we are working on your English transition task this week ready for The Corbet.  It is a great time capsule task that I think you will enjoy working on so read on for that…

So, as reigning quiz champion in my family, I thought I would start each post this week with a quiz question:

Which is the fourth planet from the sun in our solar system?

Answer can be found at the bottom of this post.

Here is today’s tasks:

1)Spellings – this week’s spelling sheets and teaching PowerPoints are below.

Year 5, work through the English lesson for Monday of week 9 (Week beginning Monday 22nd June).  The teaching sequences build up over the week to a writing activity on Friday which this week is writing a biography.  Today, select Monday’s lesson entitled ‘Read example text.  Reading comprehension’.

Year 6 – over the course of the week, we would like you to work through your English transition task for The Corbet (see information page below).  This year, it is a lovely task – creating the contents of a time capsule envelope to be kept by The Corbet and given back to you in Year 11.  Take a look at the suggested contents in the document below and complete at least one piece per day this week.  For example, today you could focus on the first suggestion- a letter to yourself explaining who you are now, your hopes for the coming year and for the future after that perhaps. You could also explain what is on your mind at the moment and how you spend your time. The capsule should contain a mixture of writing and pictures but be able to fit into an envelope (please contact school if you need a suitable envelope).  If you are unsure what to do, please contact myself or Mrs Henney.
