Owl Class (am) Home Learning 20.5.20

Buenos dias!  It’s Wednesday….middle of the week.  Well done everyone for all of your hard work; always a pleasure to see and hear what you have been up to.  As it is Mental Health Awareness Week, I thought I would share what I have have been doing to try to beat the stresses of lockdown lately.  As you know, I love to bake so over the weekend, Freya and I tackled a baking task that we have been wanting to complete for a while now, making butter buns.

These are a low fat, low sugar, calorie-free cake.  Ahem…ok, so maybe I have bent the truth here about them being healthy but they were a weekend treat.  We had a great afternoon together, giggling away when I spilt flour on the ipad (it nearly went on the cat which would have been a catastrophe – I’ll wait till you get my epic pun) and we were very pleased with the results.  And then of course, the pleasure of sharing them with the rest of my family (special delivery to the top of my parent’s drive on our daily walk).  I have also been enjoying the good weather and getting out in the garden to plant out the plants I have been growing and to keep on top of the amazing crop of weeds I seem to grow effortlessly.  Probably the highlight of the week though is a family quiz night with my parents and my brother who lives down south – yes, using technology!  I know, a minor miracle I hear you all say!  I’m proud to say that Mr Hollis and I are the reigning champions though!  It’s important to keep in touch with people which is why Mrs Henney and I love giving you and your parents a ring for a chat.  Keep finding the balance between work and all of the things that make you happy and help you to relax.  Remember, its ok to have up and down days – I certainly do and I know the strategies that help me to feel better and I know I can always talk to someone.  Take care and I hope you have a good day today.

1)Spellings – can you write our your spellings in bubble writing or a graffiti style?  This might help them to stick in your mind.
