Tag Rugby Tournament

Our Year 5/6 Tag Rugby team participated in the local area competition this week. They thoroughly enjoyed their morning getting covered in mud and refining their rugby skills with three other local primaries! Well done to the squad for such a great effort.

Panathlon Bowling Event @ Shrewsbury

We were excited to be able to send a squad of 18 of our Year 3/4/5/6 children to a Panathlon Bowling event at Hollywood Bowl, Shrewsbury, recently. The event aimed to provide a wider range of children the opportunity to participate in a competitive event but in a friendly, fun atmosphere, whilst learning skills on bowling along the way!

Our staff were very proud of all our pupils and how they conducted themselves throughout the event, showing all our values in sportsmanship. Well done team!

Hi 5 Netball

A squad of our Year 5/6 had a great morning out on Wednesday at the local netball competition. Our team have been working really hard on learning the rules of the game and did us proud with their ability to perform the footwork and obstruction rules fairly! Well done to all the children involved.

Y4 Football @ Packwood

On Wednesday 4th October, nine Y4 children took the short walk up to Packwood Haugh School for the U9’s Mixed Football Festival!
The first match was verses Baschurch.
Otto, our captain was in goal, with the rest of the team defending and pushing forward well. On the final whistle Ruyton held Baschurch to a 0-0 draw!
The second match was verses West Felton.
This time Thomas was our goalie, with Sam and Isaac supporting in defence.
The first goal of the match came from Otto, with two further goals coming from Archie!
Resulting in a convincing 3-0 win to Ruyton!
The last match was against a very strong Packwood Haugh. Issac stepped up to be in goal, with Otto and Thomas in defence.
Laila, Robyn and Evie took the central position, with Archie, Magnus and Sam upfront!
Though this game ended in a 1-0 defeat…everyone on the team worked hard and showed great determination!
All the children showed excellent sportsmanship! But special mentions go to Magnus for his amazing throw ins, Otto for his incredible crossing balls and Robyn for her brave defending!
Well done Ruyton!

Have you seen this kit?!

Unfortunately we are missing shirt / sock / short combinations of this much-loved football kit from over the years. We would really appreciate it if football players (past and present!) could check and see if any kit has accidentally been stashed away and get it returned to school!  Thank you!

Football Friendly – the season begins!

Football Round-Robin – the season starts

We celebrated our fantastic football teams this morning following their first fixtures of the new school year. Last night, Ruyton hosted a round-robin tournament where Baschurch and Myddle primary school were invited to come and play. It was fantastic to see both of our school fields full of matches, with TWO pitches for the girls’ teams and another for the boys, plus lots of supporters on the sideline!

A special congratulations to all our players who were playing their first ever match last night, particularly amongst the girls: we were so proud to see 14 of our Year 5/6 girls wanting to play and compete! Also to the boy’s team who are made up of mostly Year 4s this year – what a cracking effort to hold some tough teams to close games. We can’t wait for the next match already!

Swimming Success!

Elliot has had massive success in his swimming this week. Mr Incles and Elliot has kindly sent us a swimming report:

North Shropshire West were competing against North Shropshire East, Telford, Bridgnorth and Shrewsbury – there are some great swimmers in here, so it was a competitive night.  NSW apparently usually come bottom, but collectively (all boys, girls races combined), managed a fantastic third place.  Nic was delighted.
There were individual races in backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle as well as freestyle relays and medley relays – 24 events in total.  Poolside was the usual hot, humid noisy chaos.
Elliot swam really well on the night.  He came third in his individual fly heat and qualified for the final.  In the final he had a great start but very narrowly missed out on the medals to finish fourth.
He swam the fly leg of the medley and he and the rest of the boys swam really well to get into the final.  In the final they went for it and Elliot swam the fly leg again and blitzed it, getting out the pool and lying down for a couple of mins he was so tired.  They placed third and Elliot picked up a medal for his efforts, which made his day/week/month!
Elliot – you are a superstar! Keep up the great effort.

Athletics

Congratulations to our Athletics team who took part in the Area Athletics event at Bomere Heath. We had lots of certificates too…!
